About the test

In the 46th meeting of the Supreme Council for Medical Sciences Planning on 2011/11/5, the issue of holding a clinical competency exam at the end of the general medicine course was raised, and its implementation was postponed until the end of the Fifth Development Plan (2015) and after the necessary implementation grounds were met. Also, according to the resolution of the Medical and Specialized Education Council, candidates for the specialized medical residency exam in 2016 who graduate from Bahman 2015 and after must, in addition to other necessary criteria and documents, also present a certificate of success in the clinical competency exam at the end of the course

This exam is used to measure clinical competency at the end of the general medicine course and is in the form of a station in which students move from one station to another. At each station, a specific scenario is provided to the student and his practical skills are assessed by the examiners using available checklists. The number of stations is selected by the planning areas based on the number of students and the objectives being assessed, and the necessary arrangement is made. There are typically three types of stations: practical stations, question stations to assess clinical judgment, and rest stations.
